Port Washington 5, Syosset 1: Down one in the top of the seventh inning with the bases loaded, Matthew Sheps hit a two-run double to give No. 5 Port Washington the lead in Game 2 of the Nassau Class AAA semifinals against No. 6 Syosset. Maddox Garcia and Jake Wilber followed with a hit apiece, both resulting in RBIs. Alex Milner pitched a scoreless seventh inning. Wilber also pitched 4 1/3 innings, striking out eight. Jake Vulpis earned the win, striking out three over 1 2/3 innings. Syosset finishes its season with a 6-16-1 record. Port Washington (12-11-1) will face No. 1 Massapequa in the county final at Farmingdale State, with Game 1 of the best-of-three series beginning at 12 p.m. Thursday.
