East Meadow 14, Freeport 0: Julianna Sanzone hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to lead No. 1 East Meadow (15-3) over No. 8 Freeport in the first round of the Nassau Class AA playoffs. Sanzone and Isabella Shephard each had two hits and three RBIs. Jenna Laird went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Amy Mallah had three hits and three runs scored. Alex Kelly earned the win, pitching three innings, allowing no runs on no hits, striking out seven and walking none. Julia Cuttone pitched the final two innings for East Meadow, allowing one hit. East Meadow faces No. 4 Farmingdale in a best-of-three semifinals series on Monday, May 20 at 4:30 p.m.
