HIGHLIGHTS
East Meadow 11, Oceanside 0: Christina Loeffler pitched a no hitter, striking out 12 and walking two to lead No. 1 East Meadow (15-5) over No. 4 Oceanside in the first game of the best-of-three game Nassau Class AA semifinals. "She's come close a couple of other times this year, but this time she was really able to have command of her pitches," coach Stew Fritz said. "She spotted the ball the best she has in any game. Oceanside is a very good hitting team, and they've scored 13 runs on us at one time. Amy Mallah made a diving stop to get a force out at second base in the top of the fifth inning." Loeffler hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. Jenna Laird hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the second inning. Sara Polansky went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. East Meadow faces Oceanside in Game 2 at Oceanside High School on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.
