Friday April 28, 2017 at Babylon

Overall 12 - 5 | Conference 11 - 4

Overall 24 - 1 | Conference 17 - 0

HIGHLIGHTS

Babylon 11, Southold / Greenport 0: Junior Allie Stanya pitched her fourth no-hitter of the season for Babylon (12-0) in Suffolk X. The junior struck out 14, walked one, and hit one batter. "She threw 85 percent strikes," Babylon coach Rick Punzone said. "She threw first-pitch strikes to every batter. She only went to a three-ball count only once. She was unhittable. Total command. Total control." Gwen Donaldson's two-run homer gave Babylon a 2-0 lead in the first inning. She was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Grace Malley was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Julia Vella was 2-for-4 with a run and three RBIs. However, the game had a bigger purpose. It was the sixth annual Peter Figoski Memorial Game. The Babylon resident and 22-year NYPD officer was shot and killed in the line of duty on December 12, 2011. Figoski's four daughters played Little League softball in Babylon. According to Punzone, there was a crowd of 300 people at the game played at a little league complex near Babylon High School. "This game means a lot to us," Punzone said. "Officer Figoski was an influential member of the community. I had the pleasure of teaching three of his daughters, one nicer than the next." Punzone added that Babylon has never lost a Figoski Memorial Game.
