West Islip vs Connetquot

Rachel Wandzilak tossed a two-hit shutout, walking two and striking out six, to lift No. 6 West Islip over No. 3 Connetquot in the Suffolk AA playoffs. Wandzilak broke up a no-hitter by Connetquot’s Sarah McKeveny by leading off the top of the seventh inning with a double. She came around to score on a throwing error during a bunt by Erin Schweers. With the tying run on third and one out in the bottom of the seventh, Wandzilak got a strikeout and a pop-up to end the game. West Islip (18-4) plays at No. 2 Commack on Friday. McKeveny allowed one hit, walked two, and stuck out eight for Connetquot (17-5), which hosts No. 13 Floyd.
