Babylon 14, Center Moriches 12: Last season Babylon ended Center Moriches' season in the Suffolk Class B title game. On Wednesday, Babylon snapped CM's 41-game regular-season league winning streak. But it wasn't easy. Center Moriches nearly rallied from 11 run deficit but fell short. Allie Stanya (2-for-5 with three RBIs) hit a two-run double in the fifth inning to put Babylon up 11-3. It later ballooned to 14-3 for Babylon (12-2 League VII). Center Moriches (12-1) scored five times in the sixth and four more runs in the seventh. Babylon induced a fly out to centerfield with runners on first and second to end the game. Molly Cummings was 4-for-4 with three RBIs and four runs scored, and Alexa Tenety went 5 1/3 innings and allowed two earned runs with three strikeouts and four walks for Babylon. Caroline Casey was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs for CM. "Any time you beat Center Moriches whether it's the regular season or the playoffs, it's always a big win for the program," Babylon coach Rick Punzone said. "They're a very good team with a good group of seniors who have won a lot of games." The two teams, who have split two meetings this season, play at Center Moriches next Friday in what could be for the League VII regular season title.
