Mt. Sinai 4, Islip 0: Cassandra Wilson pitched a one-hit shutout, striking out eight and walking two for top-seeded Mt. Sinai (20-2) in Game 1 of its Suffolk Class A championship win over No. 4 Islip. Wilson scored the game's first run on a successful double-steal attempt in the fifth inning. Jessica Parente's two-run double scored pinch runner Hannah Sullivan and Wilson to give the Mustangs a 3-0 lead in the seventh. Parente later scored on Angie Bukofsky's RBI groundout to cap a three-run seventh to make it 4-0. Maddie Feddersen pitched a four-hitter, allowing two earned runs, striking out four and walking three in defeat for the Buccaneers (18-4). Mt. Sinai will host Islip in a winner-take-all Game 2 of the double-elimination championship tournament at 2 p.m. Saturday.
