HIGHLIGHTS
Mepham 4, Long Beach 3: Ashley Boscarino's two-run double, scoring Kara Castaldo and Katie Grodski, gave fourth-seeded Mepham (12-7) a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second during its Nassau Class AA quarterfinal win over No. 5 Long Beach. Boscarino went 3-for-3, with two RBIs. Castaldo and Grodski each had an RBI. Alexa Boscarino pitched seven innings, allowing eight hits and no earned runs, striking out three and walking none for the victory. Mepham advances to the semifinals, where it will take on the winner of top-seeded MacArthur/No. 8 Syosset, at 4 p.m. Monday at the higher seed.
