Deer Park 3, Newfield 0: Kaitlin Buffa's two-run single, scoring Toni Santora and Amanda Betzold, in the bottom of the fourth inning gave No. 13 Deer Park (11-10) a 2-0 lead during its Suffolk Class AA outbracket game win over No. 20 Newfield (10-11). Betzold's RBI groundout plated Tori Fox in the fifth for the game's final margin. Jaxie Collard pitched an eight-hit shutout, striking out a career-high 11, including seven straight K's from the fifth to the seventh innings, and walking one for the victory. It was Collard's second consecutive shutout, allowing only two runs in her last four games. Deer Park advances to the first round, where it will take on fourth-seeded and host Connetquot, Monday.
