Sayville 5, Carey 4. Katie Wallace's two-out, two-strike bunt single scored the tying run and the eventual winning run scored on a throwing error on the bunt as Sayville scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth in the Long Island Class A softball championship game played at Mitchel Athletic Complex. Allie Petillo threw two scoreless innings of relief for the win. Sayville (21-3) advances to the state semifinals next Saturday in Queensbury. Rebecca Vilchez hit a long solo homer for Carey, which finished 24-3.
