HIGHLIGHTS
Half Hollow Hills West 5, Patchogue-Medford 0: Francesca Casalino pitched a perfect game and struck out 17 in No. 3 Half Hollow Hills West's (18-3) Suffolk Class AA first round win over No. 14 Patchogue-Medford. Casalino struck out the first 14 batters she faced and also was 2-for-3 with a three-run homer that put the Colts on top 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth. "I was worried coming in because I hadn’t pitched in awhile," said Casalino, who threw two-no hitters earlier this season and last pitched in the Colts season finale win over Hauppauge on May 12. "I figured a few things off here and there, and to my surprise, everything was working and it turned out to be a great game." Colts coach Bill Mitaritonna called it Casalino's "most dominating game," he said. "I don’t think I’ve seen her hit all of her spots in one game like she did. She was in the zone." Alexis Kleet was 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Renne Pino finished 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Half Hollow Hills West will host the winner of No. 6 Commack/No. 11 Whitman in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Monday.
