HIGHLIGHTS
Smithtown East 14, Bay Shore 11: Stefanie Aplin was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a single, four RBIs, two runs and two intentional walks to lead Smithtown East (6-6) in its League II win. It marked the Bulls' first win over Bay Shore (7-6) in nine seasons, according to coach Glenn Roper. Aplin's two-run double in the bottom of the first highlighted the Bulls' eight-run inning, an inning in which it trailed 8-0. Aplin capped the first inning scoring to tie it at eight. Kristina Hussey's two-run double gave the Bulls their first lead at 11-10 in the fourth. Hussey scored the go-ahead run on a double steal. Alyssa Shannon, who was 2-for-2 with two singles, two runs and two walks, pitched 6 2/3 innings in relief for the victory. Samantha Magerovich's two-run homer in the fifth capped the game's scoring.
