Valley Stream South 9, Lawrence 1: Sophomore Brianna Schippel threw a no-hitter, striking out 10 and went 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs to lead Valley Stream South (3-2) in Conference A-VI. It was the first career no-hitter for Schippel in only her fourth varsity start. "She was just confident and able to throw strikes," head coach Demetri Adrahtas said. "It's really all about consistent mechanics because this is new to her. She was just throwing strikes and getting ahead. If she falls behind she's not as confident - but once she gets strike one it's huge - for any pitcher - but especially one that is new to it."
