Sachem East 1, Sachem North 0: Olivia DeRose struck out six across a complete game to help No. 3 Sachem East defeat No. 6 Sachem North in the first round of the Suffolk Class AAA playoffs. Cameron Buckstein hit a single in the bottom of the seventh before stealing second and third before Angelina Cornand hit a sacrifice fly into right field to score Buckstein for the win. Sachem East (16-4) will play the winner of No. 2 North Babylon and No. 7 Patchogue-Medford on Friday, May 17, at 4 p.m. Sachem North (12-7) will play the losing team.
