Smithtown East vs West Islip

Smithtown East 9, West Islip 6: Gabriella Zarcone went 3-for-4 with a triple, home run, three runs scored and three RBIs as No. 6 Smithtown East defeated No. 3 West Islip in the second round of the Suffolk Class AA playoffs. Smithtown East erased a 5-0 deficit after the third inning. Zarcone led off the top of the fourth inning with a home run. The Bulls scored three runs in the fourth and added three more in the top of the fifth to take a 6-5 lead . West Islip tied it in the bottom of the fifth inning, before Zarcone hit a triple to drive in two and then scored on a throwing error in the top of the seventh. Smithtown East (14-6) will host No. 7 Smithtown West, Monday 4 p.m.in the third round. West Islip (14-8) will host No. 4 Bay Shore Saturday 12 p.m. in the second round of the loser's bracket.
