HIGHLIGHTS
Bellmore JFK 15, Island Trees 2: Paige Lipman and Sammi Levine each hit a home run to lead No. 5 Bellmore JFK (4-16) over No. 12 Island Trees (2-17) in the first round of the Nassau Class A playoffs. Kayla Indich struck out four across six innings to pick up the win. Gianna Costaro, Olivia Toto and Levine all had multiple hits. Costaro went 3-for-3 at the plate. The Cougars finished with 13 hits. Katie Thayer made five fielding plays, and the team didn't commit an error. Bellmore JFK will play at No. 4 Mepham at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the quarterfinals.
