HIGHLIGHTS
Mepham 8, Mineola 4: Jessica Heine and Daniella Damato each went 2-for-4 and hit a two-run single in a four-run third inning to lead No. 4 Mepham over No. 13 Mineola in the first round of the Nassau Class A playoffs. Avery Betancourt went 4-for-5 with three runs and Giselle DeLutri and Sera Muoio each added an RBI. DeLutri struck out three batters in seven innings to earn the win. Mepham (5-14) will host No. 5 Bellmore JFK in the quarterfinals at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Mineola finished 14-3.
