MacArthur vs Calhoun

Calhoun 2, MacArthur 1: Sophomore Gianna Haniff led off the seventh with a walk-off homer, giving fifth-seeded Calhoun a two-game sweep of the Section VIII Class A semifinal series against No. 1 MacArthur and a berth in the best-of-three championship series. Calhoun will open Friday at Mitchel Field against the winner of the semifinal series between No. 6 Plainedge and No. 2 Mepham. Lauren DeMarco pitched a two-hitter and struck out seven for Calhoun. Teammate Gia Pisicchio tied the game with a double in the sixth. Taylor Brunn went the distance for MacArthur and only allowed two hits.
