HIGHLIGHTS
Northport 6, Brentwood 5: Colin Shashaty singled, reached third on an error and later scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning, giving Northport the win in a non-league opener. Sophomore Liam Darrigo entered in the top of the sixth with the bases loaded and the game tied at 5, and he struck out the Brentwood batter to end the threat. Darrigo pitched 2 1/3 innings, earning the win. Kevin Rooney started the game for Northport and struck out 10 batters, allowing one hit and no unearned runs in five innings.
