HIGHLIGHTS
Miller Place 6, Hauppauge 4: Jake Schaffer had a pinch-hit single in the bottom of the fifth inning to drive in pinch-runner Jordan Syperski to break a tie at 4 and lead No. 4 Miller Place past No. 5 Hauppauge in Suffolk Class A elimination game. Robby Morales hit a two-run homer earlier in the inning to tie the game at 4, after Hauppauge scored four runs in the top half of the inning to take a 4-2 lead. Gavin McAlonie pitched three innings of relief, allowed one hit, no runs, no walks and struck out two to earn the win. He also went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead. The Panthers (15-7) will travel at No. 1 Shoreham-Wading River Thursday at 4 p.m. in a Suffolk A semifinal.
