Clarke 8, Bethpage 1: Derek Smith went 3-for-3 including a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to lead No. 1 Clarke (15-7) over No. 4 Bethpage in the quarterfinals of the Nassau Class A playoffs. Mike Rodriguez hit a solo home run the bottom of the fourth inning for Clarke. Chris Lydon earned the win, pitching seven innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out five and walking two. Brian O'Boyle hit a solo home run in the top of the second inning for Bethpage. Clarke faces No. 2 Garden City in the quarterfinals at Clarke High School on Saturday, May 19
