The game picked up in the top of the fifth inning with West Islip leading 4-1. Jake Guercio went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Bobby DiCapua earned the win, pitching four innings, allowed one run on four hits, striking out four and walking two. Logan Doran hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning for Ward Melville. West Islip faces Ward Melville or No. 10 Sachem East in the third round on Friday, May 18 at 4 p.m. at Ward Melville High School.
