Steve Mariani entered the game in relief with two outs in the bottom of the sixth with runners on first and third, and struck out the final batter of the inning to keep the score tied at 5. Mariani pitched a scoreless seventh and earned the win. Joe Litchhult went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Hills East.
