West Islip 10, Deer Park 9: Tom Parson led off bottom of the seventh with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, move to third on a single, and scored on a fielder's choice to lead No. 4 West Islip (16-6) over No. 5 Deer Park in the second round of the Suffolk Class AA playoffs. West Islip trailed 6-2 going into the bottom of the fourth inning. In the inning, Parson led off with a solo homer, Greg Tsouprakos added a two-run single, and Joe Valentino hit a grand slam to cap a seven run fourth. Steve Plachinski's two-out single in top of the sixth tied the game at 9 for Deer Park. Joe Palmieri pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win for the Lions (16-6). West Islip will host the winner of No. 12 Northport/No 5. Deer Park Friday at 4:00 p.m.
