Carle Place vs Wheatley

Wheatley 6, Carle Place 2: Matt Cristina hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to give Wheatley a 3-2 lead in its Nassau Class B Game 1 semifinal win over No. 3 Carle Place. Will Feil had a two-run double in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 2 for Wheatley (12-7). Nick Papageorge added a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead to four. Stephen McCleary pitched a complete game five-hitter, allowed two walks, and struck out six to earn the win. Wheatley will travel to Carle Place, Tuesday at 4:15 p.m. for Game 2 of the series.
