HIGHLIGHTS
Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK 8, Calhoun 7: Not a bad opening performance for Matt Butigian. In his first at-bat of the season coming off a UCL injury, Butigian hit a fastball on a 3-2 count over the rightfield fence for a walk-off, pinch-hit solo home run in the seventh inning to give Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK (5-0) an 8-7 victory over Calhoun in Nassau AA-II baseball.
Coach John Givargidze told Butigian in the sixth inning to be ready to hit.
"He's a gamer," Givargidze said. "He's a competitor when we put him in, we knew he'd hit the ball hard somewhere. I didn't know it would be a home run"
Mark Faello went 2-for-3 with three runs and pitched the final 2 2/3 in relief for the win and Justin Kimmel went 1-for-2 with four RBIs.
