Shenendehowa 3, West Islip 0: VESTAL, N.Y. -- Ian Anderson struck out eight and Shenendehowa shut out West Islip, 3-0, in the Class AA state semifinals at Binghamton University Saturday morning. Anderson, who was drafted third overall by Atlanta’s in this year’s amateur draft, retired 11 of the last 12 Lions and did not allow a runner past first base after the second inning. West Islip (25-6) recorded five hits, three by senior catcher Nick Valenti. In the second inning, Valenti singled with one out and Greg Tsouprakos and Jon Risedorf singled with two outs to load the bases. Anderson powered a fastball by Kyle O’Neill to escape without allowing a run. Shenendehowa (20-5) scored three runs off Ray Weber in the bottom of the second, two on Mike Jeffers’ single to right-center. Weber allowed eight hits in six innings and retired eight straight at one point.
