Wheatley 2, Oyster Bay 0: John Ryan tossed a four-hitter with three strikeouts and two walks as Wheatley won the first game of a best-of-three series in the Nassau B finals at Hofstra. Wheatley (18-5) scored twice in the second inning. Hunter Pomerantz's had a sacrifice fly, and Anthony Cutinella added an RBI-single to provide Wheatley with all the scoring it would need. Wheatley coach Paul Paino was pleased with the effort of Ryan and his defense. "He did well and stayed ahead of hitters," said Paino of his pitcher. "He also pitched to contact, but it wasn't anything our defense couldn't handle." Wheatley won back-to-back Nassau B titles in 2013 and 2014, Paino said. Oyster Bay's James Losee allowed five hits, walked one, and struck out two in a loss.
