Half Hollow Hills East 15, Commack 10: Mike Palazzolo's single drove in Dylan Erickson to break a tie at 10 for No. 13 Half Hollow Hills East (13-8) in its first round win over No. 4 Commack in the Suffolk AA playoffs. Erickson led off the top of the seventh with a pinch hit single and advanced to second on James Ceparano's sacrifice bunt before scoring the go-ahead run. Palazzolo went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Ceparano went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Matt Hogan pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief with no hits, two strikeouts, no runs and no walks. The Thunderbirds will face the winner of No. 12 Longwood/No. 5 Smithtown West Tuesday at 4:00.
