Smithtown East 7, Newfield 6: Freshman Ryan Pennisi's two-out double in the top of the eighth scored Nick Rizzo to break a tie at 6 for Smithtown East (16-3) in Suffolk III. Shawn Kelly pitched the bottom of the eighth and had two strikeouts to earn the win. Mike Ruggerio's two-run single in top of seventh gave the Bulls a 6-5 lead, but in the bottom of the inning Kyle Johnson's RBI single tied game at 6 for Newfield to send the game into extra innings.
