Mineola 10, Valley Stream South 1: Senior James Wiercinski got his first varsity win, allowing two hits and striking out 11 in five innings to lead Mineola (1-1) in Conference A-4. Mike Conte and Steven DePalma each went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. The win was the 200th of coach Helms Bohringer's career, he said.
