Valley Stream South 5, Valley Stream North 3: Andy LaBeck's RBI single scored Joe Volpe to give No. 16 Valley Stream South (9-12) a 5-0 lead in the top of the fourth en route to its Nassau Class A second round win. Neil Plinto's RBI single put the Falcons on top 3-0 in the second and Louis Dono's RBI single made it 4-0 in the third. LaBeck pitched a three-hitter, allowing an earned run, striking out 14 and walking four. James Cannon's two-run single in the first made it 2-0 in favor of the Falcons. Valley Stream South plays at No. 8 Garden City in the semifinals at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
