Garden City 5, Valley Stream North 4 (8 innings): Nick Giannone's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth scored Rob Clarke, who led off the inning with a pinch hit single, in (8) Garden City Class A first round win over (9) Valley Stream North. Garden City trailed 4-3 entering the bottom of the seventh. Justin Samardich's RBI single scored Giannone, who led off the inning with a base hit, and tied the game at four. Giannone went 3-for-4 with a home run. Victor Danza pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win. Garden City (12-5-3) will face Division 4:30pm Monday at Division in the second round.
