Carle Place 14, Westbury 8: Sophomore shortstop Eric McCloskey went 1-for-3 with a 2-run suicide squeeze in the top of the fourth inning to ignite Carle Place (1-0) in its non-conference win. McCloseky finished with four RBI. Matt Loughlin finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored and Patrick Browne went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored. Sean Doherty got the save. McCloskey, Loughlin and Brown were each making their first varsity appearance.
