West Islip 9, Half Hollow Hills West 3: Brian Brower struck out three and allowed one earned run and four hits in six innings to lead No. 3 West Islip over No. 6 Half Hollow Hills West in the second round of the Suffolk Class AA double elimination playoffs. Brower added an RBI single. Anthony Azzariti hit a go-ahead home run in the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead. Vance Kane hit a two-run double and Chris Ruby hit a two-run home run in the sixth. West Islip (18-3) will face the winner of No. 2 Smithtown East/No. 7 Half Hollow Hills East in the third round at 4 p.m. on Friday. Half Hollow Hills West (12-9) will play an elimination game at 4 p.m. on Friday.
