HIGHLIGHTS
Oceanside 3, Massapequa 1: Dylan Beirne pitched a four-hitter, allowed no earned runs and struck out 13 to lead third-seeded Oceanside (15-5) past No. 2 Massapequa (14-7) in Game 1 of the Nassau Class AAA semifinals. Luke Villella went 3-for-4, including a double and a solo homer in the top of the seventh that gave Oceanside a 2-1 edge. J.J. Kemmesat had a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1. Ryan Pender, Kyle Scheurer and Matt Vlahakis each had each two hits. Thomas Harding struck out eight over five innings and went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Massapequa. Game 2 will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oceanside.
