HIGHLIGHTS
Smithtown West 3, West Babylon 2: Conner Catania gave up one unearned run, four hits, and two walks while striking out five across 6 1/3 innings to earn the win for No. 2 Smithtown West over No. 6 West Babylon in the second round of the Suffolk Class AA playoffs. Catania also went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in the go-ahead run. Brady Austin had an RBI-double in the Bulls' three-run third inning. Brian Hope relieved Catania in the seventh inning and retired the final batter to strand the tying run at second base to earn the save. Smithtown West (17-5) will host No. 5 East Islip Saturday at 1 p.m. West Babylon ends its season with a 13-7 record.
