Ward Melville 9, Brentwood 8: With two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, freshman Joe Karpowicz hit a RBI-single to left field to send Danny Cornish to cap off a four-run rally for Ward Melville in non-league play. Karpowicz went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Cornish tied the game at eight prior with a two-strike, two-out single to score Derek Savicki and Anthony Competello. Jason Stiles earned the win for the Patriots with three scoreless innings, striking out three and allowing no hits. Rob Ortiz slammed two home runs and drove in four runs for Brentwood.
