Sachem North 2, Whitman 0: Senior Dennis Buckstein tossed his first career no-hitter to lead Sachem North (1-0) in League II. Buckstein had 13 strikeouts and didn't allow a walk. He threw 81 pitches. "It's got to be the first no-hitter for Sachem North in 15 years," assistant coach Gary Comstock said. Whitman reached base on error during the fourth inning. It was the only baserunner Buckstein allowed. Buckstein's fastball hit 84 mph, said Comstock. Buckstein got ahead with his fastball then utilized a 12-6 curveball to put batters away. "It was very tidy, very efficient," Comstock said. "He had some knees buckling out there and it was strike one all day. Locating the fastball was the key." Sophomore Jake Sciarrotta went 1-for-1 with one RBI in the fourth inning.
