Smithtown West 4, North Babylon 0: Sophomore Brady Austin threw a no-hitter with five strikeouts and seven walks to lead No. 5 Smithtown West over No. 7 North Babylon in a Suffolk Class AA elimination game. According to coach Al Nucci, it was Smithtown West's first no-hitter since 2006. Austin threw 104 pitches and walked two batters in three separate innings, including the first. "I had guys warming up in the bullpen a couple times throughout the game," Nucci said. "He struggles with his control at times, but his stuff was fantastic. When he's throwing strikes, it's really hard for hitters to barrel him up." Austin had help from his defense, as second baseman Christian Chase made a backhand play going up the middle and Jack LaPraire made a diving catch in shallow centerfield to save two hits. Austin also went 3-for-3 and put Smithtown West on the board with a two-RBI single in the second inning. Jason Zeller went 2-for-2 with an RBI and Chris Theofield went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Smithtown West (15-6) will visit No. 2 West Islip at noon on Sunday in fourth round elimination game. North Babylon finished 14-9.
