Highlights: Eastport-South Manor 20, Hauppauge 14: After stopping Hauppauge at the goal line on its only overtime possession, ESM (2-4) scored on a halfback pass from Matt Prokesch to quarterback Austin Macchi on fourth down to win in walk-off fashion Friday in Suffolk III. On 4th-and-1 from the Hauppauge 11-yard line, Macchi pitched the ball to Prokesch, who ran toward the right sideline but stopped and threw the ball left-handed toward the opposite corner of the end zone to find Macchi wide open for the winning score. On Hauppauge's overtime possession, quarterback Dominick Confredo was stuffed at the half-yard line on a sneak play on fourth-and-goal that gave ESM the ball with a chance at victory. The game was scoreless at the half, and the teams exchanged touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters to set up overtime. Macchi hit Jager Chaisty for a 32-yard TD pass in the third to open the scoring, but Confredo answered with a seven-yard TD run to tie it at 7 heading into the fourth. After Prokesch's 12-yard TD run gave ESM the lead again, Confredo tied the score for Hauppauge (2-4) with 1:30 left in the fourth on a one-yard TD run. Macchi finished 6-for-13 passing for 103 yards and added 68 rushing yards, while Prokesch rushed for 85 yards on seven carries. Mike Bianco led ESM with 18 tackles and Tom Mauriello added 14 tackles. ESM sophomore Nijae Brown was 2-for-2 in PATs in her first varsity game.
