Highlights: Plainedge 9, Seaford 7: Jimmy Mendyk's RBI single scored GianFranco Soriente in the fifth inning to give Plainedge an 8-7 lead. Earlier in the inning, Soriente's RBI double scored Ray Flynn to tie the game at 7. Flynn and Mendyk each went 3-for-4 in the win. Anthony Pensato went 2-for-3 with a solo home in the second inning and a double in the sixth inning. After pitching a complete game in Plainedge's Game 1 win on Monday, Justin Trigo pitched an inning and two-thirds of perfect relief, striking out the last two batters of the game to earn the save. Plainedge (19-8) will play the Clarke/Island Trees series winner in the Class A finals on Monday at SUNY-Farmingdale.

Michael Dotzler went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run. Game 2 will be played on Tuesday at Plainedge at 4:30 p.m.

Highlights: Clarke 9, Valley Stream North 2: Chris Caizza pitched a complete game three-hitter with two earned runs and four strikeouts to lead No. 3 Clarke (18-5) over No. 14 Valley Stream North in game 3 of the Nassau Class A quarterfinals. Mike Gismondi hit a two-out two-run single in the third to build an early 3-0 lead. Peter Falgiano went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Clarke won the series 2-1 and will play in the best-of-three semifinals starting Monday at Clarke at 4:30 p.m.

Highlights: Seaford 2, Garden City 1: Lucas Hall pitched a complete game, allowing two hits, one run, and had six strikeouts to lead No. 9 Seaford over No. 8 Garden City in a Class A quarterfinals playoff game. Danny Colantonio hit a sacrifice fly that scored Austin Carozza to put Seaford (15-7-1) ahead 2-1 in the sixth with one out. Steven Schaessner hit a single that scored Nick Fischetti to tie the score earlier in the inning.

Highlights: Clarke 12, Valley Stream North 1: John Fogarty went 3-for-4 with two homers, a triple and six RBIs to lead No. 3 Clarke (17-5) over No. 14 Valley Stream North in Game 2 of the Nassau Class A quarterfinals. Matt Seelinger allowed five hits and struck out 10 in a complete game as the Rams tied the best-of-three series. Clarke will host Game 3 at noon Saturday.

Glenn Tants pitched six and two-thirds innings in relief with one earned run and three strikeouts to earn the win. Billy Patsos went 4-for-5 with an RBI. Game 2 will be played Friday at Valley Stream North at 4:30 p.m.

Highlights: Seaford 8, Garden City 6: Steve Schaeffner capped a four run sixth inning with a two-out, two-run triple to rally Seaford from 6-4 down to 8-6 up, Danny Colantonio threw 2-1/3 no-hit, scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts for the win and John Friscia went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run to lead No. 9 Seaford (14-7-1) over No. 8 Garden City in the first game of a three-game quarterfinal series in Class A. Game two is Friday at Seaford at 4:30pm.

North Shore in the second round of the Class A playoffs. Martelli tossed a complete game, allowing three hits and no earned runs with nine strikeouts. Valley Stream North advances to play in the quarterfinals at 4:30 on Wednesday.

Highlights: Seaford 4, Division 3: Michael Breheny hit a three-run home run in top of the sixth inning to give No. 9 Seaford a 4-0 lead over No. 7 Division in the second round of the Class AA second round. Zach Cachia came in with one out in the seventh inning and the tying run on second base after Division rallied for three runs and recorded two fly ball outs to earn the save. Jake Williams tossed 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and no walks with 10 strikeouts and also went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Seaford advances to the quarterfinals at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Lucas Hall pitched a complete game with two earned runs on seven hits, two walks and five strikeouts.
