Highlights: Valley Stream South 8, Valley Stream Central 3: Tyler Gill pitched a complete game with no earned runs on three hits, four walks and nine strikeouts to lead Valley Stream South (9-11) in Fifth Annual Mayor's Cup. Andrew Castano went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Andrew Hess went 3-for-5 with two runs. The Mayor's Cup is a battle between Valley Stream South and Valley Stream Central, and South has won for the past three years according to South coach Ken Ward.

Highlights: Plainedge 5, Manhasset 4: Tom Read pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out four, to lead No. 13 Plainedge over No. 6 Manhasset in a Class A second round. Jimmy Mendyk went 2-for-4 with one RBI, which put Plainedge up by three runs in the sixth. Plainedge (14-7) advances to the quarterfinals and will play against either Clarke or Bethpage on Wednesday.

Highlights: No. 14 Valley Stream North 17, No. 11 Valley Stream South 2: Glen Carey pitched a complete game four-hitter with two earned runs, no walks and five strikeouts to lead No. 14 Valley Stream North (13-7) over No. 11 Valley Stream South in the first round of the Nassau Class A Playoffs. Senior Anthony Martelli went 4-for-5 with two home runs, six RBIs and three runs. Valley Stream North will play in the second round on Tuesday against a team to be determined at 4:30 p.m.

Clarke (16-4) advanced to the quarterfinals and will play Wednesday.

Bilello went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs, and Chris Roepken went 4-for-5 with three RBIs. Ian Reid was 3-for-4 with four RBIs.

Lukas Pracher's RBI single in the sixth tied the game at 7, but Lawrence took the lead on a throwing error in the seventh. Matt Stratford tossed 3 1/3 innings of relief for the win.
