Highlights: No. 2 Island Trees erased a five-run, sixth-inning deficit to defeat No. 1 Plainedge, 11-6, in the deciding Game 3 of the Nassau Class A championship at Mitchel Athletic Complex. Trailing 6-1, the Bulldogs exploded for a seven-hit, eight-run inning in the sixth, highlighted by Kelly Cembrale's go-ahead two-run single. Island Trees will play in the Long Island Championship against the Suffolk Class A winner on June 4 at Mitchel Field.

Highlights: Plainedge 12, Island Trees 5: Taylor Curran went 2-for-4, with a double and three RBIs for No. 1 Plainedge (13-6) in its Nassau Class A Game 2 championship win over No. 2 Island Trees. Kelsey Marigliano was 3-for-5, with an RBI, two runs and a stolen base. Gabriella Vertuccio went 2-for-4, with two RBIs and three runs. Plainedge and Island Trees will meet in the deciding Game 3 at 4 p.m. Thursday at Mitchel Athletic Complex.

Highlights: No. 2 Island Trees 2, No. 6 Clarke 1: Kelly Cembrale hit a two-out single in the top of the sixth to score Sam Melendez to make it 2-0 and No. 2 Island Trees (17-5) would hold on for the win over No. 6 Clarke in Game 2 of the Nassau Class A semifinals. Island Trees advances to play No. 1 Plainedge in the finals starting Monday at Mitchell Field at 4 p.m. Cembrale finished 3-for-4 with a stolen base, an RBI and a run. Alannah Basile pitched a complete game with one earned run on four hits, three walks and 10 strikeouts.

Highlights: Plainedge 7, Bethpage 3: Aarin Hartenstein went 3-for-4, with a homer, two doubles, two RBIs and a run for No. 1 Plainedge (12-5) in its Nassau Class A semifinal win over No. 5 Bethpage. Gianna Soriente was 3-for-4, with a double and two singles. The Red Devils will play the winner of No. 2 Island Trees/No. 6 Clarke at 4 p.m. May 20 at Mitchel Athletic Complex.

Highlights: Island Trees 8, Clarke 7: Alannah Basile hit an RBI single to tie the score at 7 and scored the winning run from second base on a ball thrown in the dirt during a bunt by Sam Scharff in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift No. 2 Island Trees (16-5) over No. 6 Clarke in Game 1 of the best-of-three Class A semifinals. Karly Ziegler hit a two-out RBI double to even the score at 6 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Kelly Cembrale went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, including a two-run single as Island Trees erased a 4-0 deficit during a four-run third. Sarah Cornell struck out 15 batters for Clarke. Game 2 is at 4:30 on Wednesday at Clarke.

Highlights: Clarke 8, Seaford 7: Selena Ruiz went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Sarah Cornell pitched a complete game, striking out nine, to lead No. 6 Clarke over No. 3 Seaford in a Class A quarterfinals game. Seaford had a six-run sixth inning and scored one run in the seventh as Clarke led throughout. Clarke (9-11) advanced to play at No. 2 Island Trees on Tuesday at 4:45 p.m in the semifinals.

Highlights: Bethpage 5, Wantagh 3: Kate Dorney had two hits, including a two-run single in the top of the fifth to give No. 5 Bethpage a 2-0 lead in a Nassau Class A quarterfinal. Kayla Hatki had three hits, including a three-run double in the top of the fifth to extend the lead to 5-0. Hatki struck out eight, scattered six hits and walked two in the win. Danielle Nendza and Kayla Fehrenbach each went 2-for-4 for Bethpage, which plays at No. 1 Plainedge in a best-of-three semifinal on Tuesday at 4:00. Cathleen Cassese went 2-for-3 in the win.

Highlights: Plainedge 13, New Hyde Park 9: Aarin Hartenstein brought No. 1 Plainedge (12-5) back from an 8-2 deficit with a grand slam in the fifth that made it 8-7 and a two-run single in the sixth that gave the Red Devils a 10-9 lead over No. 9 New Hyde Park (14-6) in a Nassau Class A quarterfinal. Hartenstein went 3-for-3 with the six RBIs and Kate Finnen went 3-for-4 with a two-run triple in the sixth that added to the lead. Plainedge will play No. 5 Bethpage in a best-of-three semifinal series, beginning Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Tori Tedeschi was 4-for-5, with a solo homer, a double and three RBIs. Ashley Melendez went 2-for-5, with a two-run homer and a two-run single, and also recorded a strikeout to end the second inning to leave the bases loaded with the score at 3-2 in favor of Glen Cove. The Bulldogs host the winner of No. 3 Seaford/No.6 Clarke at 4:30 p.m. May 14 in Game 1 of the best-of-three Class A semis.

Highlights: Clarke 3, Floral Park 0: Freshman Sarah Cornell pitched a two-hit shutout, striking out 16 while surrendering four walks, as No. 6 Clarke defeated No. 11 Floral Park in the Class A first round playoffs. Selena Ruiz went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Clarke (8-11) advanced to the next round and will play either No. 3 Seaford or No. 14 Jericho Saturday at noon.
