    Highlights: Wheatley 7, Locust Valley 6: Tommy Gillette drove in the tying run on a fielders choice and the go-ahead run scored on an error on the same play to put Wheatley ahead 7-6 in the bottom of the sixth, Billy McLean hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth that put Wheatley in front 5-2 and Mike Carney got the last six outs of the game in his first varsity appearance to lead No. 3 Wheatley (16-8) over No. 1 Locust Valley to win the Nassau Class B championship series 2-0. Wheatley moves on to the Long Island championship on Monday, June 3.

    Highlights: Wheatley 9, Locust Valley 8: Dex Iannone hit a sacrifice fly that scored Andrew Hastings from third as the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth to lead No. 3 Wheatley over No. 1 in the first game of the Class B finals. Locust Valley tied the score in the seventh on a sacrifice fly hit by Nick Lollo, which scored Pat Carroll. Billy McLean came on in relief for Wheatley with two outs and the bases loaded in the fifth. He got the third out and pitched three more innings, allowing just one hit. McLean (3-for-4) also hit a two-run single that gave Wheatley an 8-7 lead after the top of the seventh. The second game of the series is Wednesday.

Wheatley advances to face the winner of No. 1 Locust Valley vs. No. 5 East Rockaway in the finals on a day to be determined at Adelphi at 4:15 p.m. Rothstein pitched one and two-thirds innings in relief to secure the win, striking out three of the five batters he faced. Billy McLean went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the first and Justin Borczuk went 3-for-3 with a run.

Right fielder Mike Dougherty caught a sinking line drive in the second inning and Rothstein helped himself by ranging to his right to get a runner out to save the no-hitter in the sixth.
