Smithtown West 57, North Babylon 46: Ryan Keenan caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Matt Heldberg with seven minutes remaining to give No. 2 Smithtown West a 50-46 lead over No. 2 Smithtown West (4-5) over No. 7 North Babylon in the Suffolk II quarterfinals. Senior Kyle Mathie had career-highs of 192 receiving yards and five touchdowns on seven catches, including a 19-yard TD reception that gave Smithtown West a 36-26 lead at the half. North Babylon opened the third with 20 unanswered points, led by Matt Grassa, who finished with four rushing touchdowns. Grassa had a 67-yard TD run to take a 40-36 then added a 1-yard score to increase the lead to 46-36 with four minutes left in the third. Andrew Lapreziosa returned the ensuing kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown to pull Smithtown West within 46-43. Heldberg completed 8 of 19 passes for 213 yards and five touchdowns and had five carries for 72 yards, including a 25-yard TD run with two minutes left to seal the win. Logan Greco rushed for 145 yards on 15 carries, including a 71-yard TD run in the first. Smithtown West advances to the semifinals at 6 p.m. on Friday.
