Half Hollow Hills East 5, Floyd 2: Ali Huber and Natalie Haebich defeated Lisa Lin and Kelci Henn 6-2, 6-2 in first doubles to lead Half Hollow Hills East (19-0) over Floyd (20-1) in the Suffolk team finals at Smithtown East. "It was the perfect ending to a perfect season," coach Tom Depelteau said. In first singles, Ester Chikvashvili defeated Emily Fernandez 6-3, 6-7, 8-6, 6-1 in a tiebreak. Senior Ali Huber and Sophomore Ester Chikvashvili are both All-State participants. "I'm proud of them. It will be a great experience for them competing against the best in the state next weekend in Albany," Depelteau said. Vanessa Scott defeated Christina Cali 6-0, 6-0 in second singles. Freshman Stephanie Chikvashvili defeated Brooke Fernandez 7-5, 0-6, 6-2 in third singles. Brynn April defeated Kaitlin Hibbert in fourth singles 6-0, 6-0. "It was a real team effort," Depelteau said. This is the third county title in a row for Half Hollow Hills East and the 52nd straight win in regards to Suffolk matches. "Winning never gets old," Depelteau said.
