Miller Place 8, Bayport-Blue Point 6: Carissa Militano was 4-for-5 with two RBIs, and Victoria Iavarone was 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Miller Place (13-4) in Suffolk VIII. Emma Acevedo was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and eighth grader Jessica Iavarone struck out the final batter to end the game and earn her first varsity win. Earlier, third baseman Sara Stransky fielded a ground ball with a runner on first, and threw to first baseman Victoria Iavarone for the first out. Iavarone threw to third base, as shortstop Kelli Ryan made a diving catch on the throw and tug out the runner (attempting to go first-to-third) for a double play and the second out of the inning in the bottom of the seventh.
