Island Trees 4, Clarke 1: Second-seeded Island Trees evened up their Nassau Class A semifinal series with (3) Clarke at one game apiece. Alannah Basile pitched a one-hitter, struck out ten, and walked four. Basile went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Morgan Petry's two-RBI double in the third inning gave Island Trees a 2-0 lead. Third baseman Kelly Cemrale made two stand-out defensive plays in the fifth inning to prevent Clarke from mounting a rally. Cemrale went 1-for-4 with a two-out RBI in the seventh. Game three is 4pm Thursday at Island Trees. Island Trees is 18-4.
