New Hyde Park 1, Bethpage 0: Geena Fornataro led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a walk-off home run to left field, lifting No. 5 New Hyde Park (10-9) over No. 12 Bethpage in the first round of the Class A playoffs. Left fielder Victoria Mooney threw out a runner at home to end the top of the seventh inning and prevent the go-ahead run from scoring. Jessica Vadala went the distance, allowing three hits and three walks with seven strikeouts. Lisa Pellegrino went 2-for-3. New Hyde Park advances to play at No. 4 Plainedge in the quarterfinals at 10 a.m on Saturday.
